Eligibility
Eligibility
Before submitting an application, applicants should ensure they satisfy the published eligibility requirements for the current funding round.
General eligibility
Each funding round has its own objectives, supported qualifications and eligibility criteria. Applicants should not assume that qualifications or training supported under one funding round will necessarily be eligible under future funding rounds.
Eligible training and qualifications are identified within the published guidance for each funding round.
Applications are assessed solely against the published criteria for the current funding round.
Round 1 — Deer Management
Round 1 eligibility
General requirements
To apply for Round 1, applicants must:
- apply as individuals through CSTF website;
- provide accurate details of their qualifications, experience and intended educational or professional pathway;
- explain how financial assistance would affect their ability to undertake the training;
- apply before paying for, starting or completing that training; and
- agree to the Round 1 Terms and Conditions.
Meeting these requirements does not guarantee an award. Funding is limited and applications are assessed against the published Round 1 criteria.
Route 1
Entry into Professional Deer Management
For applicants new to deer management or with limited formal training who do not already hold a recognised Level 1 deer-stalking qualification. They should have a clear educational, vocational or professional reason for developing their skills and intend to progress in the countryside or deer management sector. This route is not intended primarily for recreational or sporting purposes.
Route 2
Progression to Advanced Professional Competence
For experienced deer stalkers or practitioners who hold PDS2 or DSC2 and wish to progress to advanced vocational training in deer management. They should have appropriate experience and a clear educational, vocational or professional reason for progressing, with an intention to develop a significant professional role, employment opportunity or career in deer management or a related countryside sector. Applicants applying on the basis of PDS2 or DSC2 must upload documentary proof of their qualification with their application.
